PRIVACY STATEMENT (Last Updated May 22, 2019)

This privacy notice describes how we collect, process and share personal information through the http://myParts.Cat.Com website (this “Site”). This notice is consistent with Caterpillar’s Global Privacy Statement, which describes how Caterpillar collects, processes and shares personal information, rights that you may have under privacy laws, and other information relevant to Caterpillar’s processing of personal information. Caterpillar’s Global Privacy Statement is available at http://www.caterpillar.com/dataprivacy

What personal information does this Site collect and process, and why?

  • User Provided Information

We collect personal information that a user voluntarily provides to this Site. If the user creates an account or purchases a Product, the user will be asked for information such as the user’s name, company name, address, telephone number and e-mail address. When the user searches for a Product the user might also provide information relating to the user’s or other’s equipment (e.g., machines, engines), equipment fleet or other business information such as equipment location. When the user purchases a Product on this Site, the user will be asked to provide payment information (e.g., credit card data). Similarly, if the user e-mails us through the “Contact Us” link, we will ask for the user’s name and e-mail address (the user may choose to provide additional information as well) so that we can respond to the user’s questions or comments. Any fields that are optional (as opposed to required) will be designated as such. We might also collect information from Dealers relating to an order that a user places on this Site that the Dealer fulfills or services relating to a Product purchased on this Site.

We might also collect a user’s email address as part of promotions or other efforts to collect user’s email addresses. These email addresses will be used for marketing communications by Caterpillar, our dealers and third parties acting on our behalf. We may also collect a user’s phone number that we may use to provide marketing and non-marketing text and SMS communications if the user expressly consents to receive such text and SMS communications.

This Site allows a user to search for and order certain Caterpillar products (each, a “Product”). If the user desires to order a Product, the user will be required to enter credit card or other payment information with the order. A third-party payment processor will collect and process the credit card or other payment information. The order will be fulfilled and the Product sold by either Caterpillar or an authorized Caterpillar dealer (a “Dealer”). If a Dealer fulfills the order and sells the Product, then we will provide the user’s information to the Dealer to enable the Dealer to fulfill the order. In addition, for both Dealer-fulfilled and Caterpillar-fulfilled orders, the applicable Dealer will provide services to the customer in connection with the order such as handling warranty claims or returns. As a result, if Caterpillar fulfills the order, we will provide customer-provided information to the applicable Dealer to enable the Dealer to provide the services. In addition, your indication of your desire to receive marketing-related communications will also be provided to the applicable Dealer.

In addition, if a user contacts our Customer Care Center by telephone, we may assist the user in purchasing Products on this Site or Caterpillar products from other Caterpillar websites, such as parts.cat.com. During the course of providing such assistance, we may ask for the user’s name and email address and, if we assist the user to purchase Products from the Site or Caterpillar products from other websites, we will ask for the user’s payment information (e.g., credit card data).
